For most of us that take pride in the way we look, the thought of suffering with acne or Zits, may at first seem awful; but this is a skin condition that can be treated. It is not surprising then that a great deal of money has been spent on skin care treatment development; in fact many new remedies are proving very effective. Despite the number of acne skincare products made from natural ingredients only currently available on the market, they are broadly categorized into three distinctly separate groups:

* Over-the-counter: Preventative
* Drugstore or Internet: Treatments that do not require a prescription
* Prescription only: From a doctor or dermatologist for more serious conditions

Many anti acne products are used as a measure to prevent acne; for example, special toners and skin cleansers. In the real sense, these products are just those that should be part of your daily routine; often this is irrespective of whether or not there is a problem condition. Many of these cleansers act in almost exactly the same way as acne skin care products; they ensure the facial pores (and other areas) remain free of oil. These skin care products are designed to prevent this from happening.

usage of acne remedy products also include special exfoliation products like skin peels; these can be bought easily over the counter or on the internet. These work towards removing dead skin cells, reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacteria development. Many different, specially formulated anti acne products designed to reduce the problems have now been made available without prescription. Most of these creams etc. are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and hence acne); these include products which extract the unwanted oil from the skin.

Although benzoyl peroxide works well, reactions can happen so it is suggested that any skin care product containing this should not have more than 5.5 percent of the active ingredient; an alternative to this includes products which contain alpha hydroxy acid. As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skincare products made from natural ingredients only until you find one that will suit your skin; however, if finding an effective remedy it is proving to be a problem then consult with your doctor, or skin care specialist. Only doctors or skin care specialists can prescribe some medications, including the use of antibiotics and certain ointments.

Under certain circumstances, having the infected material removed from the pores under a local anesthetic may be suggested by your dermatologist; never try to squeeze your zits however, as it can lead to permanent damage of your skin. Hormone treatment might be suggested as hormone changes can cause skin problems; hormone changes can be responsible for acne but hormone therapy can be very effective when used under prescription. Constant research has paid off, and whilst they cannot cure the condition, it is becoming easier to treat.
