Many people who want to get fit are torn between their workout and the effort of going to the gym. They may feel like exercising, but they lack it when it comes to getting in the car and drive five miles to get to the gym, only to turn around and head back an hour or so later. If this sounds like you, a home gym may be just the thing to make working out convenient enough to motivate you. You can come up with other workouts like sports, hiking, or biking, but sometimes it is important to put fun aside and focus on the fitness aspect of the workout. A great way to do this is with a gym at home. This can be as simple or complicated as you choose. You can head out the next time you see a treadmill sale, buy one, and be set to go. Or you could fully equipped gym that utilizes Olympic plates. Regardless of what you decide to do, it is important to choose a space that motivates you and creates a healthy workout environment.

Before bringing the machines into your space, be sure you have the bones of a great room. Choose flooring that is comfortable to move on and if you will be jumping rope, jogging in place, or practicing yoga, you may want to install padded flooring that will make these activities easier. If this is not an option have plenty of mats that can be moved around the room.

Paint the room in a color you find inspiring. Cool colors soothe you and make you feel calm. Warmer colors like reds and oranges stimulate you and get you moving. Remember, you can always section off the room by color so your yoga space can be cool and your dance space can be warm. The last thing you want if you are running is to feel calm enough to sleep.

The final step in creating the perfect workout space before adding your chosen machines, is to make the space your own|is to personalize your exercise room to include motivational photos and sayings that you can enjoy . You may want to hire someone to paint a mural or you can just make a collage of images that make you want to get fit.

If you think it will help, add a chair to the space for before and after your workouts. If you think the chair will end up interfering in your workout, leave it elsewhere. Finally, add a mirror to the room. If you are able to see your form while working out, it helps you move properly and seeing your body is a constant reminder of things you are trying to change.
