Yet many patients fail to realize that the panic attack does not just happen out of nowhere. Thus, many patients fail to know that panic attacks are result of just nowhere. Frequently, the attack is triggered, by a certain stimulus. It could be a particular person, a place, or even a smell. Whatever it is understanding cause of panic attacks to prevent them.
Now there can be an internal or external cause of panic attack. Internal triggers includes the panic attacks like memories, feelings, certain thoughts, and physical sensations e.g. headaches. While external causes of panic attacks include sudden changes in lighting, temperature, or sound level, strange smells or sounds, and certain places.
So just why should a certain smell or taste cause a panic attack? Think of a person with a peanut allergy. Peanuts do not harm the body of a human being in anyway; also it does react to a person’s immune system. However, the allergic individual’s immune system is hypersensitive, and reacts as if peanuts were deadly poison. Likewise, a person suffering from peanut allergy may have inherited a sensitive nervous system that forces him to react with peanuts.
How does this happen? Let us say for an instance your trigger is a texture of linen. You are travelling and happen to spend a night at motel. You get into the bed having linen sheets. For strange reasons, you begin to sweat. You definitely do not want to have another panic attack. The fear begins to crawl until your attack gets mature.

And, if you are allergic to sensitive lights then stop moving to dance clubs. Some little changes can make your upcoming life safe and secure.
CONFRONTING THE TRIGGERS:
Even though you will wish to avoid panic attacks or its triggers, they are not always within your control. For example, it is difficult to avoid the smell of cigarettes, as you cannot control whether a passerby smokes or not. Hence, some patients themselves try to know their sensitivity by repeating such unpleasant stimulus.
I know that you may be curious in doing so and after all who wouldn’t be? None wants to suffer from a panic attack on a purpose. Anyways getting used to your triggers can help you to prevent panic attacks in long run. For example, people with phobias frequently expose themselves to the source of their fear. Initially they are face to some kind of threat but slowly they lose their fears.
In advance of your confronting the cause of panic attacks, you should discuss this with your psychiatrist or doctor. They are professionals and hence, possess some kind of exercises or techniques that help you to fight with your triggers. Also, if you are having a heart condition this may not prove good to you.
Generally, for most, it is best to increase the exposure gradually. Just don’t take tension, if you even fail to fight with the cause of panic attacks.. It is fine as everything needs time to heal.
