If you aren’t having fun and living a full life then what is the use in getting fit? Having fun with friends at indulging in good food and drink are some of the best parts of life. Enjoy whatever kinds of rich foods and adult beverages that you want at the same time you get a terrific body, as long as you do so intelligently. The following are several techniques that help you strike the right balance between these goals.
Consider Your Weekly Calorie Tally, NOT Your Daily Total
Too many people are convinced that it’s the daily calories that matter. The downfall of that line of thinking is that it permits no possibility of having a large meal that includes good beverages. In order to succeed, a guy would have to stick to about 1800 calories everyday if he weighs in around 180 pounds. His caloric intake would be way above that if he went to a party and ate BBQ food, dessert and an alcoholic drink or two. So his diet approach is blown.
A More Sensible Technique is to Keep Track of Your Weekly Calories
Counting calories isn’t something I even adhere to at all. What I do believe in is hitting calorie ranges. If the same (180 lb) guy would follow my fat loss plan and consume 4000 calories at his party, then he should have three low calorie days total either before or after (or a combination of both) his BBQ day. So in this example he overshot the mark by 2,200. But he only needs to have a handful of 1,000 calorie days in order to compensate for the indulgence.
Questions About This Approach
A common reaction to this strategy is that people believe their metabolism will slow down if they don’t eat every few hours. In recent years, however, this hypothesis has been shown to be untrue. It is also sometimes said that people will start to lost muscle unless they have substantial protein intake each day. This has been proven false as well. In fact, a recent study had people live on an 800 calorie diet for a few weeks and perform resistance training 3 times per week. These people did not lose any significant amount of muscle. There is no need to be concerned over a couple of days where your caloric intake is below average because it takes a long time to begin losing muscle mass.
The Only Fat Loss Plan that Allows for Social Events
What other plan allows for really enjoying social gatherings and losing fat at the same time? Every other approach is based on deprivation of some sort. A couple of below average calorie days with this fat loss plan is a small price for having the body you want and not having to cut out parties and celebrations.
