Group Hypnosis As Therapy
Monday, March 3rd, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedHypnosis is something that confuses many people. It is best known for the displays produced by hypnotists who choose attendees from the audience to become part of the show.
Willing participants jump to the stage ready to fall into a hypnotic trance that will result in them doing any number of funny reactions as requested by the hypnotist. Often someone will be instructed to display a funny mannerism when a particular word is spoken. Others will be programmed to act like chickens or make animal sounds and gestures. An audience member brought onto the stage may even feel the need to do a little dance if they have been hypnotized to do so.
These displays make for an enjoyable show but skeptics are often left wondering if it was real or staged. After all, how easy would it be to choose a few people ahead of time and plant them among the general audience? The real spectators would just think people were selected at random when they could really be a paid part of the show.
While this may actually happen at times, it is very possible to hypnotize anyone on a stage as long as they are willing to participate. Someone who wants to be hypnotized usually can be so long as the hypnotist has the necessary skills.
Group hypnosis also happens often with people who are trying to lose weight or quit smoking. It is reported frequently that these strategies work well when the hypnotized subject fully participates and wants to derive the benefits provided by the treatment.
