Why is there fluoride in our drinking water?

The Effects Fluoride Water
One observation by a doctor in the Pikes`s Peak area of the US started the entire ordeal. Young people in this particular community had very discolored and pitted teeth, but they had lesser cavities.

The reason was determined to be the natural occurrence of fluoride in the community`s wells and water supplies, due to mineral fluorine which was very usual in the mountains of the location. Later testing produced by Alcoa Aluminum found that the levels were profoundly high in various communities.

You might be wondering why an aluminum company conducted the testing. The company recently found out that activated alumina could effectively reduce the fluoride content to safer levels.

Fluoride, Risk verses Benefits:

Is the fluoride in our drinking water a good thing or a bad thing? Fluoride is classified as a toxin. There are a lot of different fluoride-containing compounds in the surroundings. Some are more toxic than others.

Expounder of fluoridation talk of the reduction of tooth decay that has been seen in the 20th century is because we have fluorine in our water supply. Opponents, including many dentists, insist that the reduction in tooth decay was due to fluoride containing tooth pastes and better hygiene habits, which includes brushing our children’s teeth.

The discolored and pitting that was noticed in the beginning to happen before the teeth emerged from the gum. Toddlers and babies should not be consuming fluoridated water in any way and most definitely should not be used to make baby formula.

Health Care

What about other health problems?

According to an independent panel of scientists commissioned by the EPA, the allowable level in public supplies is too high and should be lowered . Where the levels are currently shown, can damage the brain, the bones and the way your teeth look. Children are particularly susceptible, but so are the elderly, due to an increased risk of bone fractures.

Chlorine, at levels allowed by the EPA, is a cause of anemia, in children. Combine that with the increased cancer risk of exposure to chlorine byproducts and we have a generation of children that may have current and future health problems, all because of exposure to chemicals.

Cost Effective way to Reduce Fluoride in our Household Water:

A home purifier can reduce the fluoride content of your tap-water. If you think bottled is better, it’s not. Most bottling companies use tap-water and they don’t do anything to reduce fluoride content.

There best purifiers include dual stages for reduction of chlorine, chlorine byproducts and other toxins. This is our best option for fluoride-reduction, as well. Activated alumina can only be used on the large scale and it too is a toxin. Granular carbon is non-toxic and is the best method that we have for chlorine reduction, which is a greater health threat to our children than the fluoride in our drinking water.

Make no mistake about it, as the public is becoming better informed and knowledge is being shared more freely, we may begin to see healthier people. The only thing that you need do to protect your family from the flouride in our drinking water is install an effective purifier.
