The thought associated with a walk-in bathtub really good. Folks who’ve incapacities and people who usually do not get around very well any more no longer have to be lifted into the bath tub. Rather they can just open the door and walk in. The bathtubs are usually fitted out with features like seats, hand-held showerheads, and also safety bars. This all looks good, and there are a lot of people who might profit from such a bath tub. Sadly, as with all newer products which hit the market, they’re pushed out from the range of the general public. How many aged folks on fixed incomes do you know that can afford eight thousand dollars or more to get a brand new bath tub? Almost all of the ones I know will just carry on climbing in and out of the older one, irrespective of how unsafe.

I can remember back when the first VCRs came out in the early ’80s, and they were priced in the region of around $1,500. Before they became outmoded in the ’00s, you could buy one for a bit less than $100. You can’t help but ponder whether parts and work permitted corporations to sell them so cheap with the inflated dollars of 2005, why were they so expensive in 1982? The same is true of plasma televisions. While they still aren’t cheap, they’ve come down a long way in price from the $7 to $10 thousand they cost earlier in this decade. Hopefully the same thing will happen with walk-in bathtubs, but what number of people who could really benefit from them are being forced to do without right now because of the price?

If you are one of those fortunate enough to be in a position to afford a walk-in bathtub, you can find many lovely models from such companies as Premier Bathtubs, to make a choice from. Most are built to slot in the same space where you have your regular tub at this time. However, they are much deeper than the tubs you’re probably used to which means you’ll be in a position to sit and sponge up to your jaw if you like. You can buy jetted models as well as those with hydrotherapy. Some styles are made from gel-coated fiberglass over a chrome steel frame for additional durability.

It’s sorrowful to think about all those people that could benefit from a walk in bath tub who just aren’t going to be in a position to afford them during their lives. Hopefully it will only be a couple more years till the costs go down to where the average person will be in a position to enjoy all of the features and safety they provide.
