High blood pressure is now more common than ever before. Modern lifestyles with poor diets and a lack of exercise have resulted in many people suffering from high blood pressure. It can take many years for the symptoms to appear and it is a fact that most people simply do not understand what a Good Blood Pressure level is.

The heart is perhaps the most important organ in the body. It works as a pump feeding a never ending supply of blood to the rest of the body. It will move blood that has low oxygen levels to the lungs to be replenished. This oxygen rich blood is then pumped to every single muscle and cell to use as energy.

If you have ever had a blood pressure test then you will know that two measurements are taken. The first recording is relating to the pressure of the heart when it is pumping, this is called systolic pressure. The other value is when the heart is at rest, this is the diastolic pressure.

Keep Good Blood Pressure:

The calculations govern the actual pressure that is in the artery walls when blood is moved along. This is shown as millimetres of mercury, or mmHg. When a GP takes your blood pressure they will tell you a number such as “130 over 90″. The first figure is the systolic pressure and the lesser number is the diastolic pressure.

Another term for high blood pressure is hypertension. It can be diagnosed if an individual’s blood pressure is more than 140 over 90 for a number of days. Though at first the only sign of a problem can be the actual test, if not controlled then cardio-vascular disease can arise.

If you have low blood pressure or Hypotension then you should not be duly concerned. Unless it stays abnormally low for a constant time then it can simply mean you are in good health. Most doctors would say under “90 over 66″ is low blood pressure.
